Of course! The Three Envelope Roast is a legendary slow-cooker recipe famous for its incredible flavor and foolproof simplicity. The name comes from using three store-bought seasoning packets as the base of the rub and sauce.
It results in a fantastically tender, juicy, and flavorful pot roast that makes its own gravy.
Here’s everything you need to know.
The Classic Three Envelope Pot Roast
This is the traditional, most popular version of the recipe.
Ingredients:
· 1 (3-4 pound) beef chuck roast
· 1 (1 oz) envelope Ranch dressing mix (powder)
· 1 (1 oz) envelope Au Jus gravy mix (powder)
· 1 (0.87 oz) envelope Brown gravy mix (powder)
· 1 cup water, beef broth, or root beer*
· 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter (optional but highly recommended)
*Note on Liquid: Water works perfectly, but beef broth adds more depth. Using root beer (not diet) is a famous “secret” ingredient that adds sweetness and tenderness without making it taste like soda.
